What is puzzle generator?The puzzle software is an educational/teaching tool. It generates puzzles and other worksheets that could be used as class activity. This program makes teachers' life easy. Sometimes when kids are bored the puzzle game can warm them up and become an ice breaker. You can also hand out them as awards to hardworking students, this will motivate others (however try to avoid a competition in the classroom). Indeed puzzles would help you to gather students' focus and maintain control during the lesson. Sometimes teachers also use puzzles in their published textbooks. And finally you can use them just for fun!!!How many words to use on one worksheet?When there are too many words in the puzzle, the activity becomes tedious and kids might get bored. Usually, for each puzzle with 15 words, the students will spend approximately 10 to 15 minutes for completing one worksheet. Still, when they work in the groups they might spend less time. Another way to make puzzles easier is to decrease the number of words by 15, 14 or even 13. However no one stop you to make big or small size puzzles with any number of words in. Indeed If you wish to make a big size puzzle and find it difficult to type in many words that you already have, you can simply import them from excel.What is new ... ?1. Fixed bug #001: The program crashed at puzzle update window, when user called generator settings window (a small button with scales).
2. A new smart generator core was embedded in both 1.03 and 2.0 versions of program.
3. The Interface was changed from modal dialog to MDI Window. Now it is possible to open many windows and drag and drop words from one window to another.
4. Vocabulary list categorized into the several groups that can be viewed as a tree or as a dictionary in alphabetic order.
5. User friendly interface came with the new Puzzle Wizard window. The Puzzle Wizard, or random puzzle generator based on words from the vocabulary list makes program work fully automatic. After launching the application you only need to press "Make Puzzle" button and the program will automatically pick up the words from random category and will generate a puzzle. Each time you use Puzzle Wizard the program will generate totally new puzzles, with different table size, level difficulty and with different variety of topics and words. Still all those options are available for manual customization of puzzles. So it's possible to design many different word search puzzles using your creativity.
1. In the previous versions there was a "done field", a flag that was used to separate manually the new created puzzles which were not printed yet from the old entries in the database. The flag was replaced with date stamp which is assigned automatically by program. When there are too many puzzles in the database, the users get confused about which puzzle is new or old, was the puzzle printed out and how many days ago? The date stamp will help to avoid this problem, the program automatically keeps track of history when the puzzles are generated and filters the puzzle database according to the history. The previous flag function for separating old puzzles from new is done automatically. When you start a new school year it's possible to erase all date stamps in the history at tools window and start the program from the scratch.
2. The generator core was updated making program work faster and failure free in comparison with previous version of program. It is also became possible to apply a level difficulty for each group by 2~6 rate or disable level difficulty and treat puzzles from all groups as from same level.
1. The enormous size puzzles are possible to generate and print out with up to 100x100 matrix table including thousands of words, and all in just few seconds. The largest word search puzzles can be easily made in such a short time.
2. Answer sheets are available for printing, viewing in html format and can be passed to Excel as well.
3. One more column was added to word list; it's called "Worksheet word". Some people would like to scramble one word and print on the worksheet another one. In this case students first will have to guess the right word and then start looking for it in the scrambled puzzle's table. For example: What is the past tense of verb "break"? The answer is "broke".
As a result all words in "WordToScramble" column will be hidden in the puzzle table and the words in "WorksheetWord" column will be seen in the list on the bottom side of the worksheet.
